Cashbuild is looking for a motivated and customer-focused Cashier to join our team. This frontline role is essential in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the accurate processing of transactions at the Point of Sale (POS).
Job Title: Cashier

Job Purpose
The Cashier will be responsible for the accurate processing of all POS transactions, including scanning items, handling different payment methods, and delivering excellent customer service. You will also ensure cash security and prevent goods from leaving the store without proper payment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cash Handling
- Manage and balance cash float and petty cash.
- Accurately scan items and record payment methods at POS.
- Ensure an adequate supply of change is maintained.
- Process cash pickups and perform accurate cash-ups after each shift.
- Deposit takings into the drop safe/vault.
- Process inter-store, delivery, and quote transactions as required.
2. Administration
- Sign, compile, and file all cashier-related documentation.
3. Ready for Business
- Comply with Cashbuild’s “Ready for Business” and “Beyond My Control” standards.
4. Customer Service
- Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service.
- Direct customers to appropriate personnel for assistance.
- Adhere to Cashbuild’s professional dress code.
5. Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and staff.
- Report safety hazards to the store manager immediately.
6. Security Awareness
- Enforce password control at the till point.
- Safely transport cash to the cash office, following company procedures.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) OR a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience.
- Effective communication in English and the local language.
- Basic mathematical ability.
- Strong administration and record-keeping skills.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Ability to perform under pressure.
